    That, my friend, is a complicated and loaded question to which a brief answer can lead to pitfalls, frustrations, and plenty of swearing. The long answers require plenty of reading (happily enough I’ve written a few articles on the subject:).

    In brief you should:
    - Outline the purpose of your site;
    - Diagram your site architecture;
    - Structure your tables (for database development);
    - Determine your complete list of hosting service needs (such as server type, version of PHP/MySQL, etc.);
    - then determine your hosting company by what they offer in comparison to what you need for your site (I’ve done some research for you in this area as well).

    From there you can determine what programs you’re going to use to develop the site, your content, and your final method of delivery.

    Good luck!
